Canary Wharf could soon welcome a new outdoor swimming destination, with plans revealed for an Olympic-sized floating lido in the heart of the district.
The proposed facility, known as Sea Lanes Canary Wharf, would be located at Eden Dock, close to the main entrance of Canary Wharf Underground Station. The development would feature a fully lifeguarded six-lane, 50-metre pool floating in the dock, with a fixed depth of around 1.3 metres.
Alongside the pool, the plans include saunas, a community clubhouse, fitness classes and food and drink spaces, creating a year-round wellness and leisure destination in the area.
The project forms part of Canary Wharf’s ongoing transformation from a traditional financial district into a mixed-use neighbourhood offering lifestyle, leisure and cultural attractions alongside offices and homes.
Eden Dock, which opened as a waterside public space in 2024, has already become a popular spot for outdoor activities including open water swimming and kayaking. The new lido would build on this success by providing a safe, accessible space for swimmers of all levels.
Subject to planning approval, the floating lido could open as early as summer 2026, further enhancing Canary Wharf’s reputation as a vibrant place to live, work and spend time by the water.
