McLaren Construction has been confirmed as the winner of a £55m contract to deliver a major new student accommodation development in Elephant & Castle, south London.
Developers Fabrix and PATRIZIA have appointed McLaren to deliver Walworth Corners, a 134,000 sq ft purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) scheme that will transform a 0.34-hectare brownfield site.
Designed by Howells, the scheme combines high-quality new-build construction with the targeted retention and extension of part of the existing concrete frame fronting Walworth Road.
The development will provide 283 student beds alongside 20 new affordable homes for social rent, as well as new retail and community space.
Enabling works are now underway, with completion targeted for spring 2028.
